Torneträsk is Sweden's sixth largest lake and is situated just 30 kilometers northwest of Kiruna city surrounded by a majestic mountain scenery. Every spring, these ice fishing occations blossoms up with thousands of sports fishing enthusiasts interested from near and far to fish arctic char on the frozen lake. Even during the first week of May, ice may be sufficient to be able to get out on the lake ice to fish this very special fish species called arctic char. There are also daily ice fishing trips to this arctic char fishing eldorado with departure from Kiruna, which can be booked through Kiruna Guidetur.

Kebnekaise - Highest mountain in Sweden

Kebnekaise is the highest mountain in Sweden. The Kebnekaise massif, which is part of the Scandinavian Mountains, has two main peaks, of which the southern, glaciated one is highest at 2,097.5 metres above sea level as of August 2014. The northern peak is 2,096.8 metres and free of ice.

Again, we went out on a Aurora Expedition tonight, 2019-03-18 and this night we start up in heavy  snow storm but with the weather forecast saying it will get colder and hopefully that comes with a clear sky. So it did, around kl. 22.00 there come up northern light (aurora from a clear sky). We got a glimpse of it in about 3-4 minutes before it disappear. We still have cold nights around -15 C tonight. Tomorrow we will head out snowmobiling and maybe some nice icefishing on a frozen lake in a neighbourhood. Good night!

Yestarday 2019-03-17 we went out on a snowmobile tour together with Kiruna Guidetur to the Icehotel. You can still visit the Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi until the end of April. I highly recommend this snowmobile tour with Kiruna Guidetour to the Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi. Guided tours everyday with start outside entrance to the Icehotel 12 o´clock.

We went out on a tour called aurora colloseum together with Kiruna Guidetur, and these are the pictures taken from that night. It was a nighrt with wonderful northernlight, it was magic! Here is still possible to see and experience the northernlight until en of April.

Sweden's northernmost ski resort

Riksgränsen, The National Border in Swedish, is a ski-resort in Kiruna Municipality, Lappland, Sweden, 200 km north of the Arctic Circle. The skiing season is from February to June. From end of May the lifts operate under the midnight sun.

Nice with a sauna after a chilly day

It comes more snow out there tonight! However, we have it warm and comfortable here in the sauna after an outstanding dinner with reindeer filet, potato gratin, black currant jelly and rose wine. We are some friends who sit in the sauna and enjoy memories from the past week. Cheers!
