Icefishing for Arctic char

Torneträsk is Sweden's sixth largest lake and is situated just 30 kilometers northwest of Kiruna city surrounded by a majestic mountain scenery. Every spring, these ice fishing occations blossoms up with thousands of sports fishing enthusiasts interested from near and far to fish arctic char on the frozen lake. Even during the first week of May, ice may be sufficient to be able to get out on the lake ice to fish this very special fish species called arctic char. There are also daily ice fishing trips to this arctic char fishing eldorado with departure from Kiruna, which can be booked through Kiruna Guidetur.

At the foot of the mountain

The wind has blown away much of the snow on the high mountain in mid-February. But winter is not over for it, it will snow many days yet, several months, and we will have snow left until mid-May.

Reindeer searching for food

During the winter it can be difficult for the reindeer to find food from the ground through the deep snow, especially if the snow is hard and icy! May be a reason why the reindeer are looking for villages and settlements.

Visitors!!!

Early morning in February. I had a group of reindeers outside the cottage when I wake up!

Reindeer herders in winter

Join us during our journey in Arctic Lapland and experience an odd lifestyle and everyday life from the eyes of reindeer herders. You'll get the opportunity to take part of the experiences and adventures that we encounter in a hard everyday life characterized by a hash, cold and difficult winter in the mountain world northeast of Kiruna, the northernmost of Sweden, Finland, and Norway. Through this blog, we will share many highlights from a reindeer herders life through a whole year.

You are welcome with any questions to linership@yandex.com
We will try to answer all questions, just remark your letter "Arctic Adventure Lapland Blog"
