Aurora Borealis 2019-03-18 at the Aurora Village, Kiruna

Again, we went out on a Aurora Expedition tonight, 2019-03-18 and this night we start up in heavy  snow storm but with the weather forecast saying it will get colder and hopefully that comes with a clear sky. So it did, around kl. 22.00 there come up northern light (aurora from a clear sky). We got a glimpse of it in about 3-4 minutes before it disappear. We still have cold nights around -15 C tonight. Tomorrow we will head out snowmobiling and maybe some nice icefishing on a frozen lake in a neighbourhood. Good night!

Crosscountry skiing excursion

A wonderful spring day in the Kuttainen 220 kilometers northeast of Kiruna city. We are out on a ski trip along the border river between Sweden and Finland and photograph this view.

We have now entered the winter season's second phase as we have lighter days and longer days with the sun which has begun to give warmth, but we still have frosty nights a month yet.

This picture is from a icefishing competition arranged in Kuttainen, 220 kilometer outside of the Kiruna city. Icefishing is made on the Muonioriver that makes the border between Sweden and Finland.

From November to March locals are very issolated people living here through the cold and hash winter season. But in the month of March people put together their picnic, brings out the snowmobile from the garage and get out for icefishing. This is a common hobby for the most locals, here is also icefishing competitions arranged every single weekend in some of the many villages surrounding this arctic region.
